🌹🎶 Spring Glow
A ramble on boosting vocal glow this April
Dear Friend
🌹🎶 Spring Glow 🎶 🌹
There is nothing like the glow of spring emerging; a banquet of blossom breaks out of incubation buds as a bouquet of bird song bursts from the trees. Sun yolk melts over lengthening days, gilding baby-leaf clad branches and streaking crisp skies with golden possibilities. Human chatter flocks from playgrounds to pavements, voices released, as spirits lift and faces glow with seasonal renewal.
Three Ways to Boost Vocal Glow
Do funky things with it
Our voices glow when we grow.
Listening, singing and playing a wide range of music grows us as people,
keeping ears, voices, hearts and minds open and sparking creative curiosity.
As children, we experiment with our voices, exploring every sound possible.
This vocal free-play - otherwise known as improvisation - is still available to us as adults - we just need to remember it. Our non-verbal sound vocabulary - yawning, sighing, humming, moaning, groaning, and laughing can be a springboard into creativity
Voice Gym: Stretch a yawn into a singsong or a sigh into a soft lullaby.
Do take good care of it
Working at Lewisham Hospital Voice Clinic continually expands my awareness of how intricate and precious our vocal instruments are. Hydration, steaming, warm-ups and vocal rest are all simple and effective ways to keep our voices glowing.
Voice Gym: Sing “Spring, Bling, Sing - It’s a good thing!” anyhow you like!
Do good things with it
If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you’re a person who likes making life a little better. Your voice is already out there giving generously in the world - soothing, advising, teaching, guiding, comforting, creating and connecting.
And we all know that on days when life is not feeling so good,
a good laugh, cry, sing or heart-to-heart can help restore our glow.
Our voices are a golden vessel of all the love, truth, honesty, wisdom,
joy, creativity and goodness that we can share in the world.
Voice Gym: gift a random stranger a compliment (in a safe setting :)
Thank you for the special glow your voice brings to the world
Special Invitation: As I reach my golden anniversary of being on the planet (OMG!?)
I’d love to Glow & Glitter with you on 18th July.
Wishing you a gorgeous glowing April
Look forward to seeing and singing with you soon
Be well, breathe deep and keep singing loudly!
